What signs these shall be, I say unto you: first the earth will flow with the blood of Aen Seidhe, the Blood of Elves. A seed which will not sprout but burst into flame. Here’s what Ithlinne actually said in her prophecy: Across the Continent, Ithlinne’s prophecy is generally understood as a warning against a coming ice age that’s meant to last for thousands of years. ![]() Ithlinne’s prophecy, also known as Aen Ithlinnespeath, is mentioned throughout The Witcher, acting as the driving force not just for Ciri and Geralt, but for many of the series’ other key players. Ithlinne was an ancient elven prophet who correctly predicted Nilfgaard’s war on the Northern Kingdoms and other key events in the history of the Continent. After merely touching the stellacite, Ciri gets visions of a large desert in an alien world, wherein an unknown creature that looks exactly like Ciri beckons to her with the words, "Daughter of Chaos belongs to us. Both the leshy and the unknown monster contain stellacite, the mineral of which the monoliths across the Continents are comprised. This leads Geralt and Ciri to the leshy who turned Eskel (Basil Eidenbenz), as well as the unknown monster that killed the leshy and went after Ciri. Meanwhile, in The Witcher season 2, episode 3, “What Is Lost,” while Ciri is training inside Kaer Morhen, Geralt asks Ciri about her lingering feeling that someone is coming after her or pulling her towards the woods. As Geralt and Ciri walk through the bloody aftermath of the Battle of Sodden Hill in The Witcher season 2, episode 1, “A Grain of Truth,” Ciri mentions that she’s seen this before, which is a throwback to The Witcher season 1 when Ciri saw both Geralt and Tissaia de Vrie (MyAnna Buring) shouting Yennefer’s (Anya Chalotra) name across a smoky battlefield. While it’s not entirely clear where Ciri’s visions come from and who has access to Ciri’s mind, what’s certain is that these visions allow Ciri to see potential events in the future, speak with beings from other worlds, and better understand her true destiny.Ĭiri gets several visions throughout the series. This is why the riders of the Wild Hunt sometimes appear to Ciri in her visions, beckoning her to join them and fulfill the prophecy of old. The Witcher also reveals that ancient beings like the Deathless Mother or Voleth Meir, as well as the other riders of the Wild Hunt, know the Child of Elder Blood by another name: the Daughter of Chaos – the key to either opening or destroying the monoliths that function as portals to different realms. The gene has remained dormant in most of Lara’s descendants – save for certain individuals like Ciri and her late mother Pavetta (Gaia Mondadori). ![]() Although not much else is known about the origins of the Elder blood gene, its occurrence can be traced back to Lara Dorren, an elven sorceress who lived just around 1,000 years after the Conjunction of the Spheres. In the Continent, the Child of Elder Blood is prophesized to be the salvation of the elves as well as a harbinger of doom. As The Witcher season 2 reveals, Ciri is the carrier of an ancient mutated gene that was developed by elven sages seeking to create a Child of Elder Blood, a warrior with immense power over Chaos and the ability to open portals between different worlds. ![]()
